Meet Cathy

Cathy Yen

Chief Problem-Solver

Cathy loves a puzzle. She specializes in connecting the dots, helping your organization get from here to there. She has deep roots in the nonprofit sector as well as experience working with for-profit entities, large and small. She is our go-to when you need a management consultant to provide solutions related to organizational management, governance, strategy, planning and process improvement.

Expect Cathy to begin every engagement with a deep dive into clarifying “what problem are you trying to solve?” She will bring her analytical and data-driven approach to your business’s challenge, focusing on understanding both the cause and the way forward. She leans-in to both the numbers, with an MBA from the University of Chicago, and the context, with an undergraduate degree from Princeton, in order to fashion the complete story of what might be going on in your business - and what to do about it.

Cathy splits her time between Chicago, Indiana and California, trying to keep up with her husband and two adult children. She is an active Chicago-area community leader: in addition to her role as Director of Strategic Initiatives at Beat the Streets Chicago, she co-manages nonprofit Community Connections Fund, dedicated to growing leaders across West Cook County. She is obsessed with paper and digital planners - and can be found each morning reveling in her calendars, task lists and coffee.
